Preparing for Worship – June 7

from Mark Hoffman

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish,

and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:11,27-28

In these few short verses from John chapter 10, we hear the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, speaking words of comfort and hope to us, his sheep. He is willing to give everything for us so that we would follow him as he leads us into eternal life. This is why we come together to worship him this week! We will begin our time in praise with a song (10,000 Reasons) and with Scripture (Psalm 100.) Then, the words of Jesus from John 10 will again point us to respond in worship of our Good Shepherd as we sing You Never Let Go and Living Hope.       After our Children’s Church dismissal (all kids 5 years old through 4th grade are invited to attend) we are excited to have elder chairman Mark Barnes preaching from John 10 as we continue our Know-Believe-Live series in the Gospel of John. We will respond in faith together as we declare in song, This I Believe. We will also engage in worship through a time of Giving, and conclude our service with some brief announcements and a Benediction.   Let’s be listening to the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and willingly follow where he is leading.     In preparing for worship this week, prayerfully read through the Scriptures above and use the links to get familiar with Sunday’s songs. Please be in prayer for our elders as they lead this Sunday – Jim Herold leading worship, Mark Barnes preaching, and Seth Goding leading other elements of the service.

May we gather as the flock of Jesus Christ and bring him glory in our worship this week!
