Preparing for Worship – May 24

from Mark Hoffman

Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life…

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free….

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  John 8:12,31-32,36

In John chapter 8, we see Jesus giving testimony about himself — who He is, and what He came to do. It is truly all because of who Jesus is and what He has done that we come together to worship Him this week! We begin by singing Nailed to the Cross, and then the truth of these verses in John 8 moves us to continued worship of Christ with The Way and Man of Sorrows.

After we invite our kids up front for a special Kids’ Time, Pastor Andrew will continue our Know-Believe-Live sermon series with a message from John 8. Our response in song to the truth of God’s Word is Who You Say I Am. We will continue our worship through a time of Giving, and conclude our service with a few brief announcements and a Benediction.   As you move through your weekend, try to continually reflect on the person and work of Jesus Christ — the life-changing truth of WHO HE IS and WHAT HE HAS DONE. Find a few moments to let the truth of Scripture and the message of the songs above prepare your heart and mind for gathered worship…

See you on Sunday! Mark
