Preparing for Worship – May 30

from Mark Hoffman

Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” He said,“Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.  John 9:35-38 (ESV)

This encounter in John 9 between Jesus Christ and the man born blind very much reflects our own relationship to Jesus as we gather for worship. Jesus comes to us, revealing himself to us as the One who has worked miraculous healing in our lives. And we, like the blind man, acknowledge him as Lord, declaring our faith in him as we worship him for who he is and what he has done for us. This week, we begin this expression of worship together with a hymn of praise, O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing, and continue responding to Christ in song with Because He Lives (Amen) and Once And For All.

Following our Children’s Church dismissal (all kids 5 years old through 4th grade are invited to attend) we are excited to have long-time Meadows member Dave Goding preaching this week from John 9 as we continue our Know-Believe-Live series in the Gospel of John. We will then remember Christ at the Communion table and respond in faith and gratitude as we sing You Gave Your Life Away.

Concluding our worship gathering will be a time of Giving, some brief announcements, and a Benediction.     Please be in prayer for all who will be leading and serving this Sunday. Pray for Dave Goding as he prepares and preaches the Word. Read and reflect on John 9, familiarize yourself with the songs we will be singing, and prayerfully prepare to gather as a fellowship to worship our Lord Jesus together.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday… Mark
