“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Matthew 7:24-25

These are Christ’s words… his words about his words. Jesus had just finished giving one of the greatest sermons ever delivered, something we now call “the Sermon on the Mount.” He covered a lot of ground in this sermon: blessing, persecution, sin, hypocrisy, faith, and so much more. How does the greatest teacher to ever walk the face of the earth end a sermon like that? By telling his listeners something so simple and so profound: HEAR and DO. This is his message for all of us, for Jesus says that everyone who both listens to and puts into practice his teaching will be unshakable and firmly anchored in the midst of the storms of life. And who doesn’t want that?

Every week we gather in worship. We gather to sing, to pray, to share in the fellowship that is the church. But at the center of it all is Christ and his word. The Bible informs our songs and our prayers. Scripture is read, recited, and proclaimed. It is our desire as a church to HEAR and DO in our worship together as well.

This week we will be celebrating a fun and fruitful week of VBS! We have childcare available throughout the service for ages 3 and under, and a special Kids’ Time and activity bags during the service for all of our young worshipers. And much like Jesus closing words from the Sermon on the Mount we will be hearing from God’s Word, about God’s Word as Pastor Michael Mackens brings us a special message from 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

We hope you’ll join us in worship this week! You can prepare for gathered worship by finding a few moments to simply engage with the Scripture and songs for this week. Ask God to use our time together to draw you closer to Him, to build up His church, and to glorify Himself. This week’s song playlist can be found on Spotify and YouTube. Everything you need to know about our Sunday worship services can be found on our website.

See you this Sunday!
